The 2023 Golden Crappies Are Almost Here!

Just a day away from our biggest show of the year. Our bodies are ready.

What’s up everyone! It’s CRAPPIES EVE!  We’re here in Phoenix, AZ about to sit down and watch Real Housewives of Miami ahead of tonight’s Scottsdale live show, and then tomorrow, we jet back to LA for the 2023 Golden Crappies. We are so so so excited for our first Crappies in LA since the pandemic, but even more importantly, we can’t wait to reveal the results of this year’s ballot. So far we have over 16,000 votes in, but we suspect there’ll be a last minute surge. (You can vote here btw)

The plan for tomorrow is to fly back to LA and then stuff the envelopes, which are extra fancy this year (lies:  I got them from Staples).  Actually, I did buy some card stock; so we’ll see how that works out.  I worry that my printer will mangle everything, but isn’t that classic Crappens?

Oh, and by the way, welcome back to the Newsletter!  I think I resurrected it last year only to let it die on the vine all over again, but this time, things are different.  This is the Carl 3.0 of newsletters. We’ve moved the operations over to substack, and I’ve decided not to burden the newsletter process with so many boxes and sidebars and digests.  It was fun at first, but then it became a chore.  Hopefully we can keep things simple on the newsletter front, which means more newsletters (but not in a spammy way).

Let’s see… what else?  It’s hard to think of anything else since our brains have been 24/7 Crappies for the past week.  Just when it seems like we’ve checked one thing off, another pops up.  But the good news is that we have a ton of guests this year, most of them from the worlds of comedy and podcasting.  We keep going back and forth about who to keep as a surprise and who to scream from the mountaintops, but since we haven’t decided anything and since our brains are basically mush, we’ll just kick the decision down the road a few more feet.

Anyway, hope you all can make it tonight’s show in AZ and to tomorrow’s Crappies awards.
