Full List of Winners at the 2023 Golden Crappies Awards
Real Housewives of Miami, Garcelle Beauvais win top honors; Beverly Hills dominates rest of the show
Back again so soon with another newsletter? Yes! Because this one has legitimate news: specifically the results from the 2023 Crappies Awards! It was a wild night that took place in a Los Angeles blizzard, which is so Crappens. Many guests and attendees had to back out, which is such a bummer, but we are glad that everyone stayed safe and did what was right for them. For those who could make it to the show, we are so grateful! It was an amazing night full of exceptional guests and hilarious moments. You probably know this already, but if you couldn’t be there, you can still watch the stream on Moment by clicking here.
Anyway, let’s talk about the evening! We had a full slate of guests starting with the one and only Mercedes Javid from Shahs of Sunset. MJ looked svelte and chic as she kicked off the ceremony. Afterwards, Kate Flannery from The Office and Keltie Knight from E! News and The Ladygang joined us to read through some nominees. Kate regaled the audience with tales of meeting Ramona while guesting on Watch What Happens Live, and Keltie noted that her outfit was a direct reference to Lisa Rinna’s fashion week ensemble.
Krystina Arielle of the High Republic Show on starwars.com presented alongside Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix, and IG superstar Kiki Monique (a.k.a. The Talk of Shame) followed. It was the first time we’d met Krystina and Kiki in person, and they could not have been lovelier. Our friends Katie Cazorla, Jake Anthony (Reality Gays), Courtney Frain (Two Judgey Girls), and Ryan Bailey (So Bad It’s Good) all joined us at the Crappens desk as well. It should be noted that Ryan did double duty, hosting our “red carpet” (which actually had no red carpet) Instagram pre-show special with Rebecca Lieb (Ghost Town).
Katie Cazorla also wore two hats (and she literally wore a hat on Friday) as the vocalist and face of The Crappers, our house band. She was backed, as usual, by her husband Walter Afanasieff, who played “My Heart Will Go On” during our In Memoriam segment. And yes, Walter did produce the original “My Heart Will Go On.” Maybe he’ll put out an album with Ronnie, who performed a soulful and emotional rendition of “I Can’t Wait To Grow Up,” as made famous by Milania Giudice.
As the show reached its final act, we saw not one but two HBO Max stars (literally the fanciest moment in Crappens history). Diallo Riddle (writer, star of South Side) and Rose Abdoo (Hacks, Gilmore Girls) shared their opinions on who should win Best Villain and Best Fight respectively. Happy to report that Diallo and Rose are scholars of Bravo. They knew their shit!
Also, we did have four Bravo-lebrities appear via video: Kate Chastain, Aesha Scott, Margaret Josephs, and Lisa Barlow all accepted awards from a ceremony “held earlier this evening.” In other words, it was a night of a thousand stars (and raindrops), and not one we’ll forget soon.
Let’s talk about the winners.
RHOBH took home six awards (not including the gag wins from “In a Ceremony Held Earlier This Evening…”), but despite dominating the field with the most nominations (19) and wins, it couldn’t nab the top spot. That honor went to The Real Housewives of Miami, which blew away the competition by several thousand votes, easily winning the “Best Bravo Show of the Year” category. RHOM also took home the coveted “Best Villain” award for Lenny Hochstein, making it one of only two shows beyond RHOBH that took home multiple awards.
RHOSLC, which won “Best Bravo Show” in the 2022 ceremony, managed to earn two victories for Best Musical Performance (“Away in the Manger” by Lisa Barlow) and Biggest Fail (Heather’s black eye).
Coming up with a giant goose egg, sadly, was Real Girlfriends in Paris, which despite being tied for second most nominations (11, along with RHOM), failed to take home a single win. The cast certainly campaigned hard for their show, regramming the Crappies ballot and FYC campaigns, but it was too small of a show to compete with the RHOBH juggernaut.
One of the closest categories of the night was Bravolebrity of the Year, which Garcelle Beauvais won for her heroic work on Beverly Hills. In second place, shockingly, was Candiace Dillard Bassett, who came within 500 votes of winning the award. A huge turnaround for someone who has spent the past several years in the villain category.
Candiace did, however, provide the sole victory for RHOP for her iconic (and controversial) shade: "Not today Satan. Not today neck. Not today ankles!" The line won her Best Quote.
The next closest race was Best Bravo Moment, which saw the Homeless Not Toothless dinner party on RHOBH edge out Phaedra Parks thinking Dorinda Medley could be Brandi Glanville’s mother on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip 2. The margin was only 510 votes.
The Crappies is always such a fun way to commemorate the year in Bravo, and so we keep our categories overflowing with nominees to make sure everyone can be recognized. However, next year, we may tighten things up a bit – perhaps introducing a tiered system wherein we have a qualifying round followed by top-5 finalists in each category. Would love to hear everyone’s input.
Lastly, justice for Kiki. It’s hard going up against Kathy Hilton in the Friend-Of category, but still… justice for Kiki.

Other than the weather, which I know had an impact, what a fantastic night!! Congratulations on producing, hosting, and performing in, such a fun evening. You two make it look effortless but that only happens when a ton of work goes into something. Ben and Ronnie, you are the best! Thanks for another great Golden Crappies show. ❤❤
The fact that Real Girlfriends failed to win any Crappies is a testament to the integrity of these awards. Despite Ben and Ronnie championing this show, their views did not prejudice the ballot process. Well done fellows.
